Howdy! I study and teach writing and rhetoric at Texas Woman's University, where I'm also affiliate faculty in the department of women's and gender studies. I'm working on an academic book about being queer in the '90s, and here at Assemblage I write mostly personal essays. Some of my favorite writers are Paul Monette, Oscar Wilde, Audre Lorde, Susan Sontag, Auden, Isherwood, and Flannery O'Connor. When asked if writing programs stifled writers, O'Connor replied: "They don't stifle enough of them."
